Upon landing in Nagpur, you’ll be greeted at the airport and embark on a scenic 2-hour drive to Pench National Park. After the drive, it’s time to check in at the resort.
Following a delicious lunch, you have the opportunity to join an afternoon jeep safari as you explore the wonders of the national park. Conclude your adventurous day with a delectable dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the resort.
The Pench National Park offers both morning and afternoon jeep tiger safaris, with meals and overnight accommodation provided at the resort. This vast region, spanning 758 square kilometers, features a blend of Southern Indian tropical moist deciduous forests and tropical dry deciduous teak forests. It’s crisscrossed by numerous streams and seasonal ‘nallahs.’
While the Pench River dries up by the end of April, there are various water pools, locally referred to as ‘dohs,’ that serve as watering holes for the park’s wildlife. The Pench Reservoir, situated at the park’s center, is the primary water source during the dry season. The best locations for observing tigers are these watering holes, as they attract a high concentration of prey along the Pench River, where tigers often hunt. Leopards tend to operate in the park’s periphery but can occasionally be spotted in the deeper forests.
Pench is home to a variety of wildlife, including Cheetal and Sambar, commonly seen grazing in open areas along roadsides and riverbanks. Jackals are present throughout the park, foraging for food. Packs of wild dogs, often numbering 15 or more, can be found near Chhedia, Jamtara, Bodanala, and Pyorthadi areas within the Reserve.
During the summer months, herds of gaur can be observed near streams and bamboo patches. Sloth bears inhabit rocky areas and favor forests infested with mahul bel. Chinkaras are also present in limited numbers in open areas.
A morning jeep tiger safari takes you to the Pench national park from where you can drive to Kanha national park in 4-5 hours. On arrival at the park, tourists can check into the resort where you can enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the resort in Kanha.
Begin your day at 0500hrs by waking up and then savor a delightful tea or coffee accompanied by biscuits. Following this, embark on an enthralling morning tiger safari in Kanha National Park. Kanha’s vast expanse of sal and bamboo forests, undulating grasslands, and meandering streams, covering an impressive 940 sq. km, boasts breathtaking natural beauty and serves as the heart of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, established in 1974 as part of Project Tiger.
Within the park resides the rare and unique hardground Barasingha (Cervus Duvauceli Branderi), found nowhere else in the world. This is the very region that inspired Rudyard Kipling’s vivid tales in his Jungle Book. As you explore, a packed breakfast provided by the lodge awaits at a designated spot, where it’s spread out on the bonnet of your safari vehicle. Enjoy your breakfast amidst the pristine wilderness of Kanha National Park.
Should you not have encountered the elusive Tiger during your expedition, continue your quest while immersing yourself in the invigorating natural surroundings. Return from your safari around 1130hrs, freshen up, and relish a satisfying lunch. After a full day of adventure, head back to the resort by 6 pm. Conclude your day with a delicious dinner and spend the night at the lodge, eagerly anticipating more remarkable wildlife encounters in the days to come.
Morning jeep safari to the Kanha National Park. After lunch, depart for a 6-hour drive to Bandhavgarh. On arrival, check into the lodge, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight at the Lodge.
You will embark on both morning and afternoon tiger safaris in Bandhavgarh National Park, staying overnight at the lodge. During these safaris, you’ll explore the three core zones of the park: Tala, Magadhi, and Khitauli.
The Tala zone, the park’s oldest region, is home to the historic Bandhavgarh Fort and the revered 10th-century Vishnu figure, Shesh Shaiya. The Charan Ganga river, a vital water source for the park, originates from Shesh Shiya. Additionally, the Tala zone features the Bari Gufa caves from the tenth century.
Magadhi stands out for its grasslands and mixed dense forests, along with numerous natural and man-made watering holes like Sukhi Patiha, Dabhadhole, Charkpwaha, and Murdhawa. In recent years, Magadhi has become the prime spot for tiger sightings in Bandhavgarh.
The Khitauli zone, characterized by dry-deciduous forests, has gained prominence as another hotspot for tiger sightings. It’s also a habitat where elephants are frequently spotted due to the abundance of bamboo, a major food source for them. Your exploration of these diverse zones promises a memorable wildlife experience in Bandhavgarh National Park.
In the heart of Bandhavgarh National Park, tourists can embark on captivating tiger safaris during both morning and afternoon hours. This renowned park is celebrated for its abundant tiger population and stands as the historic site where the world-famous White Tigers of Rewa were first discovered. However, the park is not limited to tigers alone; it boasts a rich diversity of wildlife, including Leopards, Blue Bulls, Indian Gaur (Bison), Chausingha (Four Horned Antelopes), Spotted Deers, Sambar Deer, Wild Boar, Sloth Bears, Foxes, Jackals, Wild Dogs, and more. In fact, Bandhavgarh is home to at least 22 different mammal species and around 250 bird species.
Bandhavgarh’s history is entwined with human habitation dating back to ancient times. The earliest signs of human presence are the sandstone caves to the north of the fort, some of which bear Brahmi inscriptions that trace back to the 1st century B.C. Over the centuries, various dynasties have ruled over the fort, including the Maghas from the 1st century A.D. and the Vakatakas from the 3rd century A.D. Subsequently, the fort came under the control of different dynasties, including the Chandela Kings. Gradually, the region fell into abandonment, and the encroaching forest claimed the land, transforming it into a royal hunting reserve.
Bandhavgarh remained the private property of the Maharaja until 1968 when it was generously handed over to the state for the establishment of the National Park. With the creation of the park, efforts to combat poaching and hunting were intensified, leading to a remarkable resurgence in the wildlife population. The tiger population, in particular, thrived, and the 1986 expansion of the park provided essential forested areas for their habitat. For visitors, there are comfortable accommodations available at the resort for overnight stays, ensuring an immersive experience in this remarkable natural sanctuary.
