Tiger Safari in Corbett

About Tiger Safari in Corbett
Jim Corbett, an Englishman who transitioned from being a hunter to becoming a tracker, conservationist, author, and naturalist, was frequently summoned by the government to eliminate man-eating Tigers in the United Provinces. It was during these expeditions that he underwent a remarkable transformation. His books are essential reading for anyone with a passion for nature. The way he eloquently describes his transition from “shooting a Tiger with a rifle” to “shooting a Tiger with a camera” is truly remarkable.
His journey as a conservationist and why he chose wildlife conservation over hunting is profoundly inspiring. To honor his significant contributions, the Government of India decided to rename the Ramganga National Park as Corbett National Park.
Like all other national parks in the country, Corbett National Park is divided into various zones and entrances. Each one is more spectacular than the last. However, the most cinematic of them all, and you may consider us biased, is the Dhikala Zone. This zone boasts a few Forest Rest Houses, which are thoughtfully equipped with basic amenities.
The location is so awe-inspiring that it’s hard to put into words. Just imagine falling asleep in the midst of dense forests and waking up to find fresh Tiger paw prints outside your cottage. The excitement of this tiger safari at Corbett National Park is truly unparalleled.

Detailed Itinerary

Eat an early breakfast at the Hotel in New Delhi, post which you drive to Corbett National Park. The park is at a distance of 275 km, which approximately rounds up to 05 hours on the road. On arrival, check-in at the Dhikala Forest Lodge.
The Dhikala Lodge was made about a century ago, by the English, during British Raj as they controlled and managed the forested land. Their rangers needed a retreat after an entire day of patrolling the jungle.
These forest lodges are unique to Corbett National Park. It is only in Corbett that you get an opportunity to stay inside the National Park. This particular complex is located on the banks of the Ramganga River and overlooks the foothills of Himalayas.
Post lunch, proceed for an afternoon safari to one of the most scenic National Parks of India. Please Note: Only vegetarian food is served in the Lodge, to prevent any predator from smelling non-vegetarian food. Alcohol consumption is also not permitted within the Lodge premises.
Return from the afternoon safari at sunset. Dinner and overnight at Dhikala Forest Lodge.
Begin your morning safari at sunrise. Corbett has aptly been described as the land of the Roar, Trumpet, and Song. The scenic and remarkable beauty of Corbett leaves everyone clicking their shutter button.
Corbett had the proud distinction of being the chosen venue for the inauguration of Project Tiger in India. The rich biodiversity of the Reserve is partly attributed to the plethora of habitat found here. Due to the location of the Reserve in the foothills of the Central Himalayas, both Himalayan and peninsular flora and fauna is found in the Reserve.
Dinner and overnight at Dhikala.
After the morning game drive in the Dhikala Zone and breakfast, checkout from the lodge and drive toward the exit gate of Corbett National Park. Don’t pack your camera bag as you could encounter wildlife on the main road while driving out to the park gate. A three-night stay seems very little in this paradise.
Once you’re out of Corbett, drive to New Delhi. The distance is about 275 kms which should take you approximately 05 hours on the road. Transfer to the Hotel/Airport for your onward journey.
